Poynter Library: Gateway to the World’s Information
The Nelson Poynter Memorial Library’s mission is to be an active partner in the teaching, research, and learning of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg’s students, faculty, and staff. We promote student-centered learning and research in an inviting, creative, and collaborative environment. Our skilled faculty and staff strive to provide our academic community with easy access to high quality information when, where, and in the format in which it is needed. We offer enhanced services and instruction to help students use information ethically, effectively, and efficiently. We provide the skilled leadership needed to preserve the knowledge and institutional history of USFSP. Through strategic community and professional partnerships we expose our campus community to additional resources, new ideas, and innovative opportunities.
Comprised of the Circulation, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan departments of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, Access Services is the access point for materials within the library.

The primary responsibility of the Instructional Media Department is to provide services that support the teaching and research efforts of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. This includes the development and support of “state of the art” media resources, systems, networks, and equipment.
The Library Administration oversees the Library and all of its operations and coordinates services within the context of the Library’s and the University’s strategic vision.
The research and instruction librarians assist students and faculty with using the library’s print and online resources effectively and efficiently.
Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) serves as the home for unique research collections and the institutional repository for the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
The primary technology office of the USFSP Library, this area supports open use computing, technology enhanced student collaboration, the USFSP Digital Archive, and a myriad of related components to bring library services and resources to students, faculty, and staff.
The USFSP Online Learning team of Instructional Designers serves as a resource for faculty members developing or renewing online and blended courses, working with instructors to transport current materials into digital format, develop new instructional materials and media, collaborate on instructional design elements, structure the course within Blackboard, and prepare for the Quality Matters review process.
