Ways to Give to the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library
Monetary Gifts : The Nelson Poynter Memorial Library welcomes contributions of cash or long-term,appreciated securities, which can be used to establish either expendable or endowed funds for the purchase of books, periodicals, and other library materials. Donations of cash or securities may be directed to support a particular library program or collection area or may be given to an unrestricted fund that serves the library’s most immediate needs. Gifts may also be made to USF Foundation funds that help to ensure our future excellence. Maximum benefit is derived from contributions made to PL0002, USFSP Library Operating Fund. Planned Giving: Donors may prefer to make a will provision for the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, or to name the Library as the ultimate beneficiary of a life-income gift. Planned giving for future gifts and naming opportunities within our library are also available. For assistance planning a gift to the Poynter Library, please contact Catherine Cardwell, Dean of the Library, at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (727-873-4400).
Gift of Books or Other Library Materials : The Nelson Poynter Memorial Library appreciates unrestricted donations of materials that support the teaching and research needs of the University. Due to space limits and staff shortages, only relevant materials can be accepted. Appropriate gifts enhance library collections or can be used to replace missing, damaged or outdated copies. These may include books, manuscripts, photographs, archival collections, and media in areas relevant to the University’s mission and academic programs. Before considering whether to accept a donation, the Library requires that donors first consult with the Head of Collection and Technical Services, Patricia Pettijohn, at email@example.com or phone 727-873-4407 with any questions or to discuss large donations. In the case of general donations of published materials, the Library requires the donor to provide a list of book titles (sent as an email attachment) as part of the consultation and review.
For donations of special collections items (rare books, photographs, manuscripts, or other archival materials), please contact Jenny Tolbert, Digital Collections Project Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 727-873-4094.
Materials left at the Circulation Desk without prior consultation with Library staff may be discarded or sold. No acknowledgement will be given for materials left at the Circulation Desk without prior consultation with Library staff.
Contribute a book in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one : The USF St. Petersburg Memorial Library Bookplate is a lasting and meaningful way to celebrate a birthday, honor a graduate, commemorate an anniversary or remember a loved one. You choose the wording to inscribe on the bookplate and it will be affixed to a new book in the subject area of your interest. The library will send a letter of thanks to the donor as well as a letter of acknowledgement to the individual or family being honored. Your gift makes it possible for the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library to enhance its collections and continue to serve as a vital resource for the University community. Participation in the Bookplate Program is at least $115.00 per book title (some books may require a larger donation to cover the cost of purchase) and your contribution is tax deductible within the guidelines of the law. Please contact Patricia Pettijohn, Head, Collection Development & Technical Services at email@example.com or phone 727-873-4407 for more information on donating a book in honor of someone.
