Liaison to Community Groups
In keeping with its strategic vision, the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library places a high value on partnering with and serving not just the students and faculty of USFSP and the entire USF System, but also the broader community. These relationships strengthen the University by increasing awareness of our community and our role within it and by opening doors for our students as they seek to engage with and positively affect the world around them. Traditionally, these collaborations with the community have taken many forms: exhibits hosted in collaboration with local agencies or museums, talks featuring members of the community, special collections featuring the output of local groups, collaborative ventures to obtain additional funding, and allowing the use of our space for community events. Some of our recent partnerships include:
- Concerned Organization for Quality Education for Black Students, Inc.
- Florida Humanities Council
- Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County
- Neighborhood News Bureau
- Society for Advancement of Poynter Library
- Suncoast Center and the Florida Craftsmen
