Instructional Designer, Online Learning and Support Services
Karla is an Instructional Designer with Instructional Media Services and Adjunct Faculty in the College of Education at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. With over 6 years of experience in Education and Accessible Technologies, her professional interests include Universal Design for Higher Education and the Accessibility of Online Courses.
She is currently earning her Doctorate of Philosophy in Instructional Technology at the University of South Florida. She earned her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Assistive Technology from George Mason University, her Bachelor of Arts from The Ohio State University, and has received training as a certified Quality Matters Peer Reviewer along with various certifications from The eLearning Guild.
Current projects include research on the benefits of closed captioning in online courses to students with and without disabilities.
